Bringing Your Pet to Ocracoke IslandThe beach can be fun and rewarding for both pets and their owners, but please be courteous and clean up after your pet. All pet waste must be collected immediately and deposited in appropriate containers. As a matter of public safety and courtesy, pets should also be under the watchful eye and contact of their owner. All of Ocracoke’s beaches belong to the National Park Service and fall under the guidelines of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. According to park officials, "Your pets are welcome at the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Do keep them leashed and under control at all times. Pets are not allowed on designated swim beaches or in buildings. Please, for your pets sake, do not leave them unattended. And, for other visitors sake, clean up after your pet." **Please note: There is a leash law at National Parks that requires leashes not to exceed six (6) feet in length. |
