TestimonialsAugust 2009 We all took long walks, finding many interesting shells (I'm still searching for the elusive Scotch Bonnet!). The house is very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. We enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning and loved the hermit crabs that shared the "beach" in front of the bulkhead. We have loved our "home away from home" so much we are thinking it will be easier and more enjoyable to just stay an extra day. As our vacation comes to an end, we thank you for sharing your home on Ocracoke with us. As each day dawned, we'd say "maybe today it will rain…" or not be as terrific as the day before. This was not to be the case. Every day was better than the one before and we understand and appreciate how apt the name "Almost Heaven." Thank you again. --
August 2009 The weather was beautiful but hot! We saw pods of dolphins in front of the house, kayaked, fished, crabbed, star gazed, body surfed at all the pull offs, shopped, biked, saw shooting stars and lighting over the mainland at night, played games, laughed. I would recommend going to Down Creek Gallery, Howard's Pub, Ocracoke Lighthouse, and the Pony Pen. Driving onto the beach was great fun and very convenient. There were so few crowds and the water was beautiful. We all took long walks, finding many interesting shells (I'm still searching for the elusive Scotch Bonnet!). The house is very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. We enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning and loved the hermit crabs that shared the "beach" in front of the bulkhead. Hurricane Bill intruded ever so slightly on the last couple of days, causing high surf, no beach access for 4WD's and some general angst about the closing of NC 12 near Rodanthe. However, we have loved our "home away from home" so much we are thinking it will be easier and more enjoyable to just stay an extra day. As our vacation comes to an end, we thank you for sharing your home in Ocracoke with us. As each day dawned, we'd say 'Maybe today it will rain…' or not be as terrific as the day before.
