DescriptionThis is the former home of Captain Marvin Howard, Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #290, the only mounted Boy Scout Troop on the East Coast, and possibly the United States.
This comfortable Howard Street cottage is nicely secluded and is complimented with a large yard perfect for family gatherings. Go back in time to a quieter, more peaceful place. Just a short walk to many of the Islands shops, restaurants, and attractions. Light and airy, Diabando is a great retreat for the entire family. Recently renovated with fresh paint, new furnishings, new windows and storm doors.
THREE SLEEPING AREAS: ONE BEDROOM downstairs with a Queen sized bed, and ONE BEDROOM upstairs with a Double bed. The third sleeping area is SLEEPING LOFT upstairs with two Twins. One full bath with tub and shower downstairs and an additional half bath upstairs.
Amenities include window AC (no heat), ceiling fans, wireless internet access, full sized washer and dryer, microwave, 3 Cable TV's, VCR/DVD, XBox (First Generation), telephone, iron and ironing board, book library and board games/puzzles. No Dishwasher.
The exterior offers a large yard overlooking historic Howard Street, glass sun porch, outdoor hot/cold shower, picnic table, park style charcoal grill and open deck.
No Linens. No Heat. Pets are welcome with no additional pet fee (maximum 2 pets please ). No Smoking. Maximum occupancy is 6 people, including children.
Partial stays of less than a week are welcomed and may be booked within 2 weeks of your desired arrival date. You may either call the office at 877-646-2822 to book your partial week stay or you may book online under the nightly tab on this property page.

It was a perfect vacation! The house is in excellent shape, especially now that the owner has remodeled it some but still keeping the original old charm. I love the location (Howard St) as it certainly brings back fond memories of Ocracoke in the 1950s. When we had a maintenance problem, someone was there within a few hours and fixed it quickly and thoroughly. Your website has made it extremely easy to book online and everything went smoothly. Everything we needed (except sheets and towels of course) was in the house and the new TVs and other additions are marvelous. I truly felt like I was a guest in someone's home and they gave me excellent hospitality! Thank you so much for a great vacation!
