TestimonialsJuly 2010 Thank you for providing a very welcoming home for my family to stay this week. My daughter made some new friends and they enjoyed the screen porch and deck to hang out after the days at the beach. My husband spent his summers here as a child and is pleased that the environment at Sisters was very relaxing. We hope to return next year. Your home is at the top of the list. -- Karin, Lauren and Mike
June 2010 We love Ocracoke! Had perfect weather, good food and beautiful stars at night. "Sisters" is a perfect place for us. Thanks! Ohio Girls -- Janice, Janeen, Joyce, Judi & Nancy
May 2010 We had a great week fishing (with luck) and goofing off. The cottage was outstanding in both plan lay out and furniture. Very much enjoyed the marsh view & wildlife. Thanks much! -- F. Fountain & H. Shriver
May 2010 This was our first visit to the island. We had a great time. We rented bikes the first day and rarely drove the car. I feel like we covered almost every inch of the island. The history of Ocracoke is amazing. The quiet beaches were fantastic. This house is so nice. We felt at home with of the extras. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We will cherish the memories. -- Teri & Alan, Newburgh, IN
May 2010 We have had a great week and thank you for such a great house. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed. Everyone on the island has been so friendly! This has been a relaxing, enjoyable week. We rented a golf cart for the week plus had our bikes so rarely used our cars. We took the boat/ATV trip to Portsmouth Island with Wade and Bones and would highly recommend it. The shelling was amazing! The weather was perfect…we could surely make this an annual trip! -- Linda, Bob, Judy, Raymond & Wendy
April 2010 This week has been absolutely amazing on this beautiful island. Your home was so welcoming and equipped with everything we needed. We will most definitely be returning to Sisters! We hardly ever went anywhere in our vehicles, it was great biking to our destinations! We shopped, the guys fished, we visited the lighthouse, loved the thrift store and antique stores and boy did we enjoy the running ducks in the pond by the house. They are so fun to watch! The mallards and their ducklings were cute too. The islanders were very nice and helpful. Howard's Pub and the Pony Island Restaurant must be visited! Again, we thank you so much for making our vacation so special. Sisters was so comfy! We will be back! -- Brent & Brittany, Gary & Dawn and Pete & Linda
April 2010 We've had a wonderful and relaxing week to unwind-a true vacation in every sense-in unspoiled perfection on Ocracoke. It began with an unplanned but most welcome encounter with good friends on the Swan Quarter Ferry over. We met many delightful and helpful 'Ocracokers'. We slowed down to island time, made a dent in fresh seafood availability while enjoying exceptional food at the Flying Melon, Dajio and The Back Porch among others. It is wonderful to be so well situated to be able to bike anywhere. We walked to Springer's Point and tried to imagine the life, times and intrigue of 'Blackbeard' and his crew. We fished, 'adopted' a pony, shopped, day tripped north to Hatteras, read, enjoyed the ducks immensely, along with numerous mallards and the brand new babies, and ended our week with a trip to Portsmouth for Homecoming. We also celebrated our 43rd Wedding Anniversary! 'Sisters' was like home away from home (even better equipped in some areas!). Loved the deck, screened porch, way-comfy bed-very lovely home. Thanks for sharing! -- The Taylors, Charlotte, NC
April 2010 This was our first trip to Ocracoke, and what a great one it was. Coming from Vermont, we were in sore need of springtime sunshine, which we got in abundance. We loved the house, the beaches, the village. We had one rainy day, which gave us the chance to enjoy being inside this comfy, welcoming house. We already plan on coming back, making this an annual or bi-annual trip. Thanks for making our initiation into Ocracoke living a wonderful one. -- Mary & Terry, Norwich, Vermont
April 2010 WOW! Words just cannot convey the beauty, magic, wonder of Ocracoke! We have all had the most wonderful week…exploring Portsmouth, shell seeking, walks in the village, meeting new friends and reconnecting with old friends-each day brought something new! Sisters is a lovely retreat. We will certainly return. Thank you for all the TLC you have put into this beautiful home. I feel like I can go back and teach the rest of the year with a renewed spirit. Thanks again for everything! Warmest regards, -- Debbie & Tim
February 2010 After a long drive-several wrong turns on interstates-it was so wonderful to find The Sisters warm and inviting. It was just us two, at first we though we would get lost in a house this big, but it has been a marvelous, cozy stay in a beautiful home. I first came to Ocracoke when I was thirteen and then into early twenties. Sporadically thereafter, but Ocracoke is my favorite place in the world. Now we'll come back-yearly I hope-hopefully to stay at The Sisters Cottage. A wonderful place to celebrate my 60th birthday! We explored everywhere on foot, ran on the beach, saw dolphins & enjoyed Springer's Point nature walk. Hope to come back even though we had rather extreme weather! 60's & sunny to 30's & snow and sleet-then winds that shook the house-but it was fun! -- Krissa & Peter
November 2009 A great vacation. This is our fourth time to OI & our second this year. Sisters is by far the most secluded and peaceful place we've stayed yet. Very comfortable and being here in November is certainly different; no crowds. As peaceful & relaxing as the village is it is even more this time of the year. Thanks! We'll be back. -- Tom & Susan
October 2009 Another nice stay in your lovely rental cottage for our fifth or more time. Our week was variable with showers, wind, wind & wind, so fishing was not what we were hoping for. However, Ocracoke fascinates us on the worst of days & I hope we will return to this enchanting place again & again. -- The Hawkins & Bernstein's
August 2009 Everything we needed was provided for us - and then some! -- The Owens
August 2008 What a great week we had! This is our third visit to Ocracoke and will likely not be our last. This is a wonderful house. Great floorplan, nice furnishings. I even like the cooking pots! We also like how secluded Sisters is - was very quiet and relaxing. -- The Mays and Fentons
August 2008 Your home has added to our great vacation. It has been so relaxing and fun. We had a wonderful trip to Portsmouth Island with Wade. We were treated to a large school of dolphins on the trip over. We were also able to do the entire tour of Portsmouth Village which was fantastic. The kids earned their Junior Ranger badges and learned a lot in the process. Thanks for sharing your home with our family. -- The Rippers
July 2008 What a relaxing week we had! The weather was perfect - mid to upper 80's all week and only a couple showers. The daily bike rides and walks on the beach helped to work off some of the excessive amount of good food we ate. We tried parasailing for the first time - it was a fun adventure (highly recommend it). It has been a pleasure staying in your wonderful house. Sisters is most comfy and has all the charm one would expect on Ocracoke. Thank you so much Riggs, we had a great week. -- The Cherries and Clems
July 2008 We have had a wonderful week here in beautiful Ocracoke. Your home is lovely and we especially enjoyed the many decks and porches. We cooked wonderful seafood meals and thoroughly enjoyed our beach walks. We really enjoyed renting "Sisters" and hope to return. It is the perfect family beach house! Very well equipped too! -- Miles and Schnadou
June 2008 We had a perfect vacation. Smacnally's every afternoon to see the charter boats come in. This is our sixth year on the island and we love it more each time. The house was perfect, the screened porch a delight. The breeze was just enough to keep us cool in the evenings. -- The Jenkins
May 2008 This is the perfect vacation setting - quaint village, ocean views, abundant vegetation. Although I'm a North Carolina resident and have lived in Western North Carolina for several years, I have been amazed at what a wonderful getaway destination this is - in our own state! Arriving here by the Swan Quarter Ferry was such a fun and unique experience. Then, the "Sisters" house was such a great surprise. A beautiful home with wonderful amenities as a vacation retreat. I've enjoyed walking everywhere and seeing the fun and historic sights. I'm looking forward to visiting again. Thanks for providing a terrific place for a vacation with family members and friends. -- Hurd
May 2008 After two delightful weeks, we almost hate to return to normal routine. Have enjoyed our stay here with various family members coming to join us for a few days. We all overdosed on great fresh seafood from the local fish vendor. -- The Hoopers
May 2008 We've driven a long way from south central Kansas for our first visit to Ocracoke. Boy, was it worth the long drive. This little village has a charm to it. Hopefully, it will never become too mainstream and developed. Your house is beautiful and comfy. Such beautiful and clean beaches too! Well, we've eaten our weights in fresh seafood and toasted our skin on the beach. Thanks for a great, relaxing vacation. -- The Judds
April 2008 Great week again at Sisters and can't wait to return in September. We brought friends from the Asheville area for their first OBX trip and they loved everything. Thank you for a lovely home. It is just wonderful. We had wonderful weather all week. Caught some bluefish and one drum. Thank you and sure wish we were not leaving. See you again soon and give Polly a pat for us. -- The Hawkins and Andersons
