TestimonialsSeptember 2011 Although this week started as a disaster after Hurricane Irene it's ending well. We didn't believe we'd get to come and beat everything we didn't get trip insurance, not a smart thing during hurricane season. We were set not to come but when we heard visitors could come on Thursday we came over. I wish we didn't lose most of our week, I don't want to leave but I'm grateful to have been able to come. To be here is a blessing. This house is perfect for our small family. We loved every minute of being here- Ocracoke is my favorite place to vacation even though it was only a three day vacation. It's worth the trip to see the beautiful sunset on the ocean waters. -- -unsigned
August 2011 This is our fourth consecutive stay at Ocracoke. Thank you so much for offering your house to renters- it is so full of light and airy, we can only imagine how wonderful it must be in the spring and fall! Although my four-year-old was disappointed there were no toys, the beach items made up for it entirely! We tried to experience it all while on the island- the beach, the lighthouse, fishing, kite flying, shopping for local art, bike riding, and playing Frisbee in the backyard, and the Sutton Place was a fantastic place to rest after it all. We hope to come again for a fifth year on the island and spend it here. -- The Stiers
August 2011 I had so much fun you'll really enjoy it here even if you are only staying for a couple of days. Going to the beach is like you are in wonderland and I love the twin bedspreads. I can't think of 1 thing that's bad. I came here with my friend Grace, her family owns the house. -have Fun. -- Emily Ireland (age 10)
August 2011 This house felt like a home as soon as I stepped inside. I thought some of the best additions were the iHome and plethora of coat hangers in the closets. All in all an incredible experience- I will be back. -- Hailey (age 16)
July 2011 We chose to stay in Ocracoke for our first family vacation with our 14-month old son, and loved that Sutton Place had a high chair and pack n' play (we brought our own umbrella stroller). The house is well-stocked and comfortable. We liked having the clothesline, the washer/dryer, and dishwasher. Overall we had a great stay. Having a large yard is wonderful…..Thank you for your nice accommodations! -- The Bloomroses
July 2011 It was great we look forward to next year! -- The Pressley Family
July 2011 LOVED the house and would definitely rent there again!! Super cute place -- please pass that along as I didn't get a chance to sign the book! -- Betty
June 2011 Our week long stay is at an end already and once again we are reluctant to leave! The weather was gorgeous throughout, not a drop of rain, although we know the island needs it. We love it here and can't wait to come back! -- The Nixons
June 2011 We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sutton Place. The location was fantastic! We enjoyed the large yard and quiet neighborhood. You cottage is well kept and supplied with everything we needed. The beds were quite comfortable and we admired the handstitched artwork. The weather has been beautiful. The entire family enjoyed playing on the beach and taking in the sites of the Outer Banks. -- The Adams
May 2011 This was everything we could have possibly needed….Very comfortable home- great location on the dead-end, - like your grandparents I hope to have my retirement home on Ocracoke as well- this lovely island soothes my soul. -- K .Fields
April 2011 The name of this house should be changed to "Happy Place"! We have had a wonderful 3 days here. The weather has been great- we had quite a thunderstorm on Thursday night after we arrived, but that was an awesome lighting display! The house is so well-appointed and comfortable- it is obvious that a lot of thought went to the furnishings. We ate well, played hard, + slept well. We will definitely rent this wonderful house again. Thank you so much! Blessings and Peace -- The Campbell Family
January 2011 This is our second stay at Sutton Place having arrived a week ago. When we were here in Sept 2010, the island experienced a record rain fall silting in the inlet and closing ferry service for several days. In order to make our reservations in Nags Head for the annual fishing tournament we had to take the ferry to Swan Quarter. Last night we experienced record snowfall---6"! closing the ferry service once again. Life is an adventure. We love Sutton Place and even with our interesting weather experiences, will return again as often as we can…. -- The Van Demans
July 2010 What a cozy place to call home for a week! We stayed across the street 2 years ago and really liked this area. The house fit our needs just perfectly! We have 2 young children and they enjoyed having their own beds but rooming together. Our little girl especially liked doing the puzzles and the pretty rainbow bedspreads. Thanks very much for having the beach gear and sand toys already here. Thank you for a comfortable, pretty home. (I loved the green colors and the beautiful needlework!) -- Bernice and the Llewellyn Family
July 2010 We had a wonderful stay for four nights. Very well equipped / furnished home, wonderful island! Beach gear was very welcome too! -- The Bogaard Family
June 2010 Another vacation on Ocracoke in Sutton Cottage too soon finished. We've had a lovely wonderful time. The weather cooperated fully and we have the suntans (& burns) to prove it. Vicki did a great job of redecorating. I (Debbie) especially love the colorful twin bedspreads. God willing, we hope to return many, merry more times. -- The Nixons- Barry, Marian, Debbie & Kim
August 2009 This home will always have a special place in my mind and heart as this very family room…in the rocking chair… is where I became engaged. This was our very first visit with another couple to Ocracoke and we will return one day I am quite sure. We loved the cozy atmosphere and all the nice extras this home offered. The island atmosphere of Ocracoke is so inviting and relaxing too! It provided miles of interesting running, beautiful beach pictures, great shopping, and wonderful dinners! - Try Cafe Atlantic! My soon to be husband and I will share sweet memories of our first vacation together and the beginning of our lifetime together. Enjoy! -- Lindsay Bierbaum, Newport News, VA
August 2009 I have been coming to Ocracoke since I was 4 years old. This was the first time I rented a house as an adult. We came down here with another couple and had the time of our lives! My husband and I got to witness a great proposal. This is the perfect house to rent… just enough space! Ocracoke holds special meaning in our relationships so each time we are down we get to remember the many memories we have made here. We love the island atmosphere and look forward to bringing our kids here one day! Enjoy the island atmosphere! -- Ashley Ruhl, Seaford, VA
August 2009 Much to my dismay, we are packed and ready to leave first thing in the morning. It was such an awesome week! Although it was our first time in this perfect home, we have been coming to Ocracoke for about 20 years- can't wait to get here and can't stand to leave. There was several great days on the beach- some fun shopping-some fantastic meals. Loved the Atlantic Cafe and Sweet Tooth/Fig Bakery was an excellent lunch and just some excellent quiet time here at this peaceful house. Thank you for allowing your house to be our home. -- The Hurts, Lumberport, WV
July 2009 My family and I are packing up…sadly. We have had a wonderful vacation- our very first family vacation- my husband and I got married in September of this year, and he has a five year old daughter. We brought my sister along as well. The girls loved their bedroom! This little cottage has been a blessing to our family- clean, bright and inviting! We loved it- an Ocracoke of course, is a magical place! This vacation will always be special in our hearts! Thank you! -- The Fox Family
