Vacation Rental InformationYour Ocracoke Vacation Home Please read each description carefully as amenities vary by property. Central AC/heat, window AC, TV(s), VCR(s), DVD(s) and bed sizes will be noted in each description. Each property has a range, refrigerator, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, silverware, and toaster unless noted otherwise. Pillows and blankets are provided. You'll need your own sheets and towels unless noted otherwise, or you can rent them from Beach Outfitters. If the property has a phone, you have free local calling on Ocracoke Island only. Please use your phone card for any calls off the island. Cell phone reception is available via US Cellular, Alltel, and in some cases Verizon. Remember that all the rental properties are individually owned, furnished and decorated to reflect the individual tastes of the homeowner. Ocracoke Island Realty will make every effort to repair or replace any advertised item if something should go wrong during your stay, however "Island Life" is at a slower pace and repairmen are limited. Important Things to Consider Occupancy Limits: We do ask that all of our guests please respect and adhere to the posted occupancy limits for our properties. Not only do additional people increase the basic wear and tear on our homes, and use additional utilities, but most importantly they stress the septic systems of the home. The occupancy limits are based on the Hyde County Health Department as well as state regulations and are based on septic system specifications. Over occupancy of any of our homes can result in eviction with no refunds given. Please remember that Ocracoke is a small community and violations are often reported! Most rental properties have water provided by the county water system. Other homes, as noted in their description, do not have city water and you should plan to purchase bottled water for drinking. Ocracoke Island is growing. Many neighborhoods have new homes built and renovated each year so construction in progress is inevitable. Unfortunately there is no way for us to predict what will be built or where. If you are staying close to construction, please be tolerant and notify our office if you have specific concerns, no refunds or moves can be made. We will do our best to address your concerns with the building contractor to minimize your inconvenience. However, construction can begin by 7 AM per local ordinances. To better preserve the quality of Island life, we encourage you to consider limiting the number of vehicles you bring to the island. Most of our properties do have limited parking, so please check the web description for these limits prior to your arrival. With your help we can reduce traffic as well as improve your vacation and the beautiful environment.
Fireplaces Some of our homes have a fireplace, the majority of which are gas, a very few are wood burning and are noted in their individual description. All fireplaces are available/open during the off season weeks only. If the home has a gas/propane fireplace we will make every effort to ensure that it is operational during your stay in the off season; however we cannot guarantee fireplace operations. If the propane runs out during your week please call our office so that we may arrange for delivery. Due to DOT and Ferry Division regulations, gas deliveries are only possible on specified days of the week. If the home has a wood burning fireplace, you are usually able to purchase firewood at the local grocery store. If you are unsure of the operation of a fireplace, if the flue is opened, or have other questions please call our office before attempting to start a fire. Pets Pet properties are limited to two domestic housebroken dogs or cats unless otherwise noted. Some pet properties have a non-refundable pet fee in addition to the security deposit while other properties have included the fee as part of the rent. In either case the guest is responsible for any damage by pets. Exceptions cannot be made in non-pet homes due to allergies, etc. Please note that Ocracoke is a small community and violations are often reported!! Leash laws are in effect in all areas.
