Traveling safely to Ocracoke Island requires responsibility and respect. Now that Ocracoke is open for vacation rentals and we are checking in new reservations, we have increased our cleaning and sanitation standards with professional disinfection protocols. We are also helping people navigate state and local regulations simply and easily. Here are some of the important procedures we are following to keep people safe and healthy on Ocracoke.
As visitors return to Ocracoke, we’re communicating the importance of traveling responsibly and respecting current regulations. As you plan packing for your trip to Ocracoke Island, please plan to bring both face coverings and hand sanitizer. Please follow state and local regulations. Since the regulations can change, we recommend staying up to date.
Health & Safety First
At Ocracoke Island Realty, the health and safety of our guests, owners, and community has always been our top priority. Please be sure to follow regulations. In addition, many businesses must require that their staff and customers wear a mask or face covering. These actions can help protect our families, neighbors, and visitors during North Carolina’s Covid-19 three-phased approach to lifting restrictions.
- Face coverings must be worn if you will be among other people. On June 24, 2020 Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen announced that North Carolina will remain in Safer at Home Phase 2.5 for three more weeks. Cooper also announced that face coverings must be worn when people are in public places where physical distancing is not possible. Please see NCDHHS guidelines for face coverings.
- Announced on June 24, 2020, in certain businesses employees and customers must wear face coverings. This requirement includes retail businesses, restaurants, personal care and grooming and, workers and riders of transportation, among others.
- Wait and shop 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
The Ocracoke Island Realty team takes cleaning and safety seriously. For years, we’ve used cleaning and disinfecting products that meet or exceed performance specifications outlined by the U.S. Centre for Disease Control, the “CDC.” In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, our attention to detail has increased.
Regardless of the length of your stay, every property is professionally cleaned with these materials and standards before your arrival. Our staff of cleaners is rigorously trained in best-in-industry-methods and subject to regular performance reviews. We also regularly inspect our team's work to ensure our standards for your safety are being met.
