We had a fantastic stay at Okracoke. The Escape Hatch house was very cozy and comfortable, but with plenty of space to spread out. We especially loved watching sunsets on the observation deck and lounging on the screened in porch. Everything in the house was in great condition and working order, and we were happily surprised to have a full range of dishes and kitchen utensils to work with. Pet friendly too - our dog loved it!Location was great, and Island Realty gave great service. The beaches were incredibly clean and not overly packed. Accessible to everything on the island by bike, but beware that it's difficult to find much open after 9:00 PM. This is not the place if you're looking for a party, but is very family-friendly and relaxed. Special shout out to Ride the Wind surf shop and Howard's Pub for great shopping and eating experiences. Perfect for a relaxed vacation - we'll definitely consider it again next year. "

Roomy & clean.Mattresses need updating, especially in the down stairs bedroom - though not poking out, the springs could be felt on all three mattresses in the downstairs bedroom, thankful the rental company sent someone to add blankets under the pad extra mattress pads to the top. It helped."

I like the old school vibe, secluded location of the house. The bunk mattresses need to be replaced. The roof top deck is excellent for star gazing. Big master bedroom, bed is comfy. Love the 70s microwave and wood flooring. Great outdoor shower."

The Escape Hatch rental more than met our expectations. We loved the open floor plan, the enormous screened in porch, and the views from the roof top deck. Located a short bike ride from the village, we rarely used our car. Our dogs loved morning walks to Oyster Creek for a swim in the sound. Great times!"
