Leave a place better than you found it!
In the words of my dear departed father-n-law, "leave a place better than you found it". After checking in the first thing our group of 2 couples did was clean for 2 hours. We removed the foul smelling carpets and used the supply of cleaning products we brought with us to sanitize everything. We brought all of our own bedding, including pillows, blankets and comforters. When I expressed my concerns to OIR they sent a representative over right away to discuss and offer an apology, including gift certificates. Thank you for saying "we are so sorry", that goes a long way with me. I have been visiting Ocracoke for over 25 years and have stayed at some wonderful houses, and some not so much. This house has good bones and has a lot of potential. The neighborhood is quiet. Great place for 2 couples or a family. To the next renters, we washed and cleaned as much as we could. The appliances worked great and during our stay the toilet broke but OIR had that fixed in hours. I cannot say I'd stay here again, but we made the best of it and had a great week.

This is the third home weve booked through Ocracoke Island Realty and have always been impressed with their properties, until this one. The kitchen is barely stocked so please bring your only pots and pans because you wont find much here. No coffee pot either if thats important. The rugs look and smell like every animal that has visited has relieved themselves. The entire house just smells. Its been 78 degrees in here since we arrived, which isnt too surprising since one of the vents doesnt work in the living area and the rest of them are just rusted beyond belief. Bring your own lamps and a fan if you choose this house. No attention to detail was given to this house sadly enough. Other properties are welcoming, this one seems as if the owners just tossed stuff in that they wouldnt be upset if any of it got ruined because none of it is much good. Sorry, for the price of this house we expected better and we arent picky!
