"The staff was great and very helpful with every interaction. The check in & check out process was easy. Having a 5pm check in was very late & caused some frustrations. We were unable to get the house to lock, so we kept it unlocked every day. There were instructions for unlocking & locking the door, but we still weren't able to get it to work properly. One person in our party finally got the door to unlock so we could get in. We wished the trees off of the front porch were trimmed so we could see more of the water. The neighbor (I think he is a local) not at the very end of the opposite side of the road, but the house next to it. He has a blue truck & flowers by the road. He was rude to us a few times & not very neighborly. Overall, it was a pretty good stay. We enjoyed the open floor plan & had a wonderful week there. Thank you!"

"Privacy among the trees and canal - Overall, this property was very nice especially the location at the march at the end of the road. The home was clean although there was dust on the fan blades. Other reviews talked about bugs and smell which I have to agree that we experienced both. I reported these issues to the property manager so we'll see as we hope to go back again next year."

"We loved our stay in Southern Comfort. We stayed 3 weeks.
The positives:
1. Wonderful home. Beautiful screened porch overlooking the marsh. Wonderful second screened porch surrounded by Wax Myrtle and Live Oaks.
2. Well stocked and arranged kitchen.
3. OIR was most helpful and responsive at every level.
4. Ancillary services of bikes and golf cart were excellent, responsive, easy to work with.
5. House layout was excellent, well thought out.
6. The Great Egret roost along the creek was without a doubt the highlight of our entire stay on OI. What an incredible sight. We pulled up the rocking chairs on the porch, along with our glasses of wine, and enjoyed the view from start to finish every evening, AND every morning beginning around 6:20am when they would leave. What an experience.
Negatives:
1. For a 1 week stay, the bed mattresses would have been doable. For a 3 week stay, they were awful, in desperate need of replacement. Our backs suffered while there.
2. For a 1 week stay, the heavy smell of urine in both bathrooms would have been doable. For a 3 week stay, it really was bad. We just remembered days as kids in summer camps using latrines; we survived that, we would survive Southern Comfort. So, I'm giving it a 5/5 rating, because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with the above caveats."

"Okay house, nothing too special. Good location on the canal. Pros: We were able to rent a boat and have it docked at the house, great views from the front porch. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen appliances worked great. We liked the kitchen/living room open floor plan. Great labeling of all the switches! Cons: Bugs, SO many bugs even after we had them come spray. No yard so not really dog friendly. Not really kid friendly either. Very small driveway. Wish the couches were arranged better so everyone could watch tv. "

"We really enjoyed OC06 Southern Comfort! Great set up and location.
A few things to note:
1) The kitchen door to the back porch doesn’t easily lock.
2) Please check the hot water in right bathroom shower.
3) Right twin BR - one broken vertical blind.
4) The front long porch really could use an overhead fan.
5) Lamp on dresser in left queen BR didn’t seem to work.
6) Another outside light above the pathway to the farther parking spot would make the pathway along the house safer. Almost impossible to see the last wire and post in the dark.
7) The dryer lint vent tubing needs to be cleaned out. We tried to clean as much lint from it as we could. The lint catcher isn’t very efficient."

"Southern Comfort is an excellent house, with many amenities such as a whirlpool tub and outdoor shower, in addition to the dock, plenty of beds, beautiful modern kitchen with every kitchen item and appliance you could ever need. We enjoyed our stay, aside from a few extremely rude business owners/employess. Overall, the house is what made the trip a great one, I would want to stay in that exact house again."

"August 2018 Stay We had a lovely time in the house and it fit our needs very well. Here are some comments on, first, what was great, and then how to improve things in the house for future guests:Good stuff: The main space was very nice and attractive; the pop-up TV was cool. The bedrooms worked very well even tho we had 11 adults/kids staying there for a few days at one point. The kayak was a very nice feature too.To be improved:The gas grill was pretty unusable as the grate was totally rusted out (but OIR came thru and delivered a charcoal grill THAT day we called). The main double doors to the two porches were pretty dirty, kind of gross. Most of the "non-stick" frying pans were fairly worn out and aren't really non-stick anymore. There is a need for more medium sized pots; there were lots of small ones and one huge one. Ceiling fans on the porches would be an awesome addition. Some days, we could have turned off the air conditioner in the house and been outside on the porches if they had fans."
