Children: The Castle Bed & Breakfast welcomes children age 8 and older. Although we have a select number of rooms that will accommodate an older child with their parents, we do not have facilities for younger children. For families traveling with younger children, guests may wish to stay at one of our 1-3 bedroom Villas located adjacent to the Castle Bed & Breakfast.

Smoke-Free Environment: The Castle Bed and Breakfast and Villas maintain a smoke-free environment. All Castle guests are asked to smoke on the porches and decks on the Castle grounds only. A cleaning charge will be assessed if there has been smoking in a guest room.

Pets: Pets are not permitted at the B&B or Villas, but we are happy to recommend a local boarding facility.

Check in:  Guests of the Castle Bed & Breakfast will check in at the Castle located at 155 Silver Lake Drive.  

Guests of the Castle Villas check in at Ocracoke Island Realty located at 1075 Irvin Garrish Highway.

Check in is at 3:00pm. Check out time is 11am.

Reservations for a Specific B&B Room: While we attempt to honor requests for a specific room, it may not be available for your party. In that case you will be assigned to a very similar room with the same bed arrangement. Note that we sometimes acquire new furniture or move furniture around as you do at home. Your room may not be exactly as shown in the pictures on this website or other promotional material. We hope that you will prefer any alternate arrangement.

Group Rentals: When The Castle B&B rents to large groups, a block of rooms can be held under one name. As people call in to reserve their room, we switch the reservation and credit card information over so that original person is not penalized. All unreserved rooms in the reserved block will be cancelled 30 days prior to the reservation. This is a courtesy to other guests and to the person that originally held the rooms.

Stays Less than 3 Nights

Reservations: Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted. Your credit card will be charged on the day of arrival. There is no minimum stay.

Cancellations: If you choose to cancel your vacation with us within fourteen days of your reservation, you will be charged one night's stay.

Stays of 3 Nights or More

Reservations of 3 nights or more at The Castle Villas require a Rental Agreement. Your advance rental payment of 50% of the total rental amount (plus Trip Insurance if elected) is due at time of reservation. Trip insurance is recommended, but optional. The only additions to this total are state and county taxes. Payment by personal check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are accepted, and all monies must be in US funds.  Please note that any credit card used for payment must be in the name of the leaseholder.

The balance of your rent and taxes is due no later than 30 days prior to arrival.  Reservations made within 30 days of arrival require payment in full by Visa, Mastercard, Discover, certified check or money order. No personal checks can be accepted within 30 days of arrival. State and county taxes are subject to change without notice. A $25 service fee may be charged for any returned checks.

Cancellation Policy: If you must cancel your reservation after making payment, we will do our best to re-rent your vacation period to another party. If re-rented at the full rental rate, your rental monies will be refunded. You may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. If the property is not re-rented, all monies paid will be forfeited. If re-rented at a lower rate, any monies is excess of the original rental rate will be refunded. Trip cancellation insurance is non-refundable as it is paid to the carrier immediately upon receipt.

Trip Cancellation Insurance is highly recommended. This insurance is available to cover hurricane evacuations as well as other contingencies such as illness or job loss. According to NC law, if trip insurance is offered and you decline it, you waive your right to a refund in the event of an evacuation. Trip insurance is 6.9% of your rent plus taxes and is well worth the premium. It will be a line item on your rental agreement. Once it is paid it is non-refundable as it has been paid to the insurance carrier and your protection is in place. If you do not want the trip insurance you must sign to decline it. Trip insurance may not be purchased once the reservation is paid in full.
