The First Annual Ocracoke Island Waterfowl Festival will be held at the Ocracoke School. Islander Dave O’Neal, the owner of the Down Point Decoy Gallery will be this year’s featured carver. There will be decoy displays, carving presentations, raffles and food. Presented by the Ocracoke Island Decoy Carvers Guild.
April 21, 10AM
Meet descendants of Portsmouth Island and hear their stories. Several homes will be open to visit. The Post Office will be open for a one-day stamp cancellation. Hymn singing will take place in the church. There will be a potluck meal and boat transportation is available from Ocracoke.
April 28-29
Come join us for Ocracoke’s Run Fest Weekend featuring a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and 1 Mile Family Fun Run. Routes will pass by Silver Lake Harbor, the Ocracoke Lighthouse and down historic streets. The 76th British Cemetery Ceremony and reception commemorates the sinking of the H.M.T. Bedfordshire off the coast in 1942. Four British sailors are buried in the British Cemetery on Ocracoke. Representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, British Royal Navy, Canadian Royal Navy and Ocracoke High School students participate in the annual ceremony.

The 13th Annual Firemen’s Ball is the highlight of Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy a pig-pickin’ BBQ. Join the silent and live auctions. Music and dancing goes late into the night with some of the island’s favorite bands.
June 1-3
