At Ocracoke Island Realty, we are dedicated to our small island community and to giving something back through both our energies and our donations. OIR will match any donation given to the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire DepartmentOcracoke Community ParkOcracoke Foundation, and Ocracoke Child Care through our matching donation program.  We are proud to have been involved from the start on some of our community’s most recently successful projects such as the creation of Ocracoke’s own radio station, WOVV, the building of the Community Park, and revitalizing the Tale of Blackbeard. Donations to the Ocracoke Booster club and PTA have helped to bring positive improvement for local students, including several new sports teams.

OIR supports efforts to preserve Ocracoke’s heritage by giving to the Ocracoke Preservation Society and Springer’s Point Nature Preserve.  We co-sponsor annual community events such the Pirate JamboreeOcracoke 5K/10K, the Memorial Day Fireman’s Ball, and the Ocrafolk Festival.

Brought too much food on vacation? Leave non-perishable items in the donations box on the porch of our rental office. We take it to the Bread of Life Food Pantry on here Ocracoke Island.

Community service is vital to the heartbeat of a small community like Ocracoke, therefore OIR encourages employees to donate their time and effort to community projects. We have several individuals that give their time to projects at Ocracoke School, including coaching sports teams, PTA, and Booster Club. Our employees are also dedicated members of the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, the Ocracoke Preservation Society, the Ocracoke United Methodist Church, the Ocracoke Assembly of God, the Community Center Board, and our local organization to control and care for feral cats, Ocracats.

Year round, OIR sponsors projects to give back. In addition to collecting donations and posting new adoptions for Ocracats, OIR also celebrates National Pet Week in May by donating $5 to Ocracats for every reservation made. The winter months are a time of giving and OIR strives to do our part to spread holiday cheer.  Our Annual Food Drive takes place in December. During our Christmas Cheer project, employees organize fundraisers and OIR matches the money raised. We then partner with Hyde county social services to help families in need of help through the holidays.

We are so proud to be part of this special community and enjoy our opportunities to give back!
