Over the years, we have stayed in numerous properties we rented from Ocracoke Island Realty, and must say this was our least favorite property. We haven't stayed in the Oyster Creek area before, but rented this house because it had a dock for us to keep our boat (a plus)! The positives: Sufficient parking space, as well as covered parking for 1 vehicle. The beds were comfortable. The outdoor sitting area under the screened porch (dock side) was especially nice. And the kitchen had a large refrigerator--which is very beneficial. The negatives: The dock was covered with mud and seaweed when we arrived..we did clean it off. The kitchen flatware was minimal and the glassware was very minimal (mostly plastic cups), as well as only 1 wine glass (plastic). The overall decor is worn out and needs updating, lighting in bathrooms was insufficient, a light was needed in the outdoor shower area for night usage, and the WiFi needs more bandwidth (extremely slow response for multiple users, so some people turned off WiFi on their devices). A Fix-It form was submitted to OIR for several issues that weren't emergencies, so they could correct after we left: The screen needed repair on the screened porch door, the kitchen upper cabinet was falling off the wall, and there were roaches present (we realize that's par for the course when at the coast). I will say that OIR has always been responsive to any requests we had needing immediate response, and they are wonderful to deal with. We had a wonderful trip, and We will be back to Ocracoke soon, but it will be at a different property.

We enjoyed our stay at the Blind Mullet. Kitchen is fully stocked! only wish the bathroom setup was more private.

We stayed at The Blind Mullet. This was the first time we've stayed in a house on the canal - and it was great. The house was in great shape with nice decking both at the house and along the canal. The only couple of things that I would point out that need attention is that the lighting in the bathrooms are very weak, the grill cooking grate was in need of replacement, and the wireless bandwidth needs to be increased. Now, I realize that the island is an opportunity to separate and somewhat disconnect for a period of time; however, from time to time there are some requirements to connect and try to conduct a little work to keep from being so far behind when returning to real life, and with today's bandwidth intensive devices, it would be nicer to be able to connect to internet services that can keep up.
