This popular Ocracoke vacation cottage is great for family vacations or couples. Raised above ground level, this cottage offers both an exterior stairway and an access ramp for easy access and wheel chair accessibility. Enjoy the convenient walking distance to the Ocracoke Coffee Company, restaurants, Silver Lake Harbor, Village shops and the library. Bad day for the beach ~ the spacious great room features a state of the art home theater with a 65 inch 4K OLED screen, Pioneer Elite components, surround-sound speakers, and an AppleTV, with a movie collection of over 1,000 titles and HBO. Need to check in with work ~ the house boasts the fastest internet available Starlink Satellite internet land and a notebook desk with a 27" 4K monitor.

3 bedrooms, 2 baths.

Amenities include central air conditioning/heat, and complimentary wireless internet service. TVs and more (see details below). The kitchen features a double oven convection gas range with integrated griddle. Washer/dryer.

The exterior offers a screened porch with dining table and seating including a hammock swing. The spacious open deck offers a dining table with umbrella and gas grill. The rear yard offers a hammock perfect for relaxion and a park style charcoal grill. Fish cleaning bench, large sheltered outdoor hot/cold outdoor shower, foot shower, and a bike rack. Fenced rear yard with convenient access via the gated deck and parking area.

Boat storage/covered parking is available underneath the house, in the left bay with a clearance of approximately 6 foot 10 inches. The right bay offers a large outdoor shower and platform designed for loading/unloading items and wheelchairs. This platform provides access to the home's entry ramp. The right side bay is not available for vehicle or golf cart parking. Additional vehicle parking is available outdoors.

Military Discount Available. Discount can only be applied at time of booking.

Short Stays are available; there is a three-night minimum, and these stays can be booked within two weeks of arrival.

Please be aware that an exterior security camera is located on the premises directed towards the parking area and/or entrances for added security and peace of mind.

A second large screen flat panel HDTV with bluray/DVD, Netflix, Pandora, AppleTV, HBO, along with sound bar and subwoofer is located in the queen bedroom. A third flat panel HDTV with a Sony PS3 game console (also plays bluray/DVDs) is located in the twin bedroom. All systems have DirecTV satellite service. XM satellite radio is available via the DirecTV to the home theater system.

I remember when Hatteras Island realty companies worked the way Ocracoke Island Realty does, but that was pre Vacasa arrival 🤔 The years I have rented through OIR have been nothing but superior 👌 Everything from front desk, accounting and housekeeping have been great 😊 I would mention maintenance but never had the opportunity of meeting them because, evidently, if housekeeping reports an issue it gets taken care of prior to our arrival. During our two week stay we did have a tech knock on the door and ask if he could change the HVAC filter which we allowed him to do. My wife usually replaces ours at home every three months but OIR evidently replaces their units filters monthly 😊 We will continue renting Hangin Loose through OIR as long as we’re able to get around and enjoy this part of God’s creation 🥰

We love the laid back atmosphere of Ocracoke. From live music and fresh seafood to the pristine peaceful beaches, no other place comes close to the Ocracoke experience. Hangin Loose was the perfect home base with a great kitchen for cooking and cool porch for relaxing. The rooms were all comfortable and the wide array of available Apple TV movies was appreciated on the rainy days. It’s also one of the few homes with a ramp, which provided easy access in and out of the house for our son who uses a walker. Hope to see you again next year!

Perfect house for a week in Ocracoke! This is the only house I have ever had on Ocracoke that had great internet. Great TV's and audio system and more phone charging areas than you will ever need. We made dinners and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The dogs enjoyed the fenced in yard. The house is 100% handicapped accessible.

Excellent experience with Ocracoke Island Realty and Hangin Loose (SV-17). House was very clean and extremely well appointed. Only complaint might be that there is too much technology (for old folks ?) in the house and it would take too long to learn how to use it all. There was a constant "beep" during our entire stay that we couldn't locate. We may have finally found it on our checkout day in the refrigerator filter area, but not positive. Will keep this home on our list for future visits. Thanks very much!

Hangin Loose is a great cottage and for tenants up in age or with physical disabilities the handicap ramp is a Godsend. We bring a hand truck and carry our loads up the ramp for a two week stay ? Second year at this cottage and already reserved for 2025 for our two weeks ?

Wonderful "coming home" feeling when we hit Ocracoke. After 37 years of coming, it is always special. Hanging Loose is an especially comfortable cottage. Everything imaginable is at your fingertips. We love cooking in with great fresh seafood-the gourmet kitchen meets every need. Watching Top Gun/Maverick one night with theater sound system was like being at the movies. Ocracoke Realty is easy to work with. Keep up all the great work!

Hanging loose is an awesome house to stay in. Well taken care of and meets all my rental needs. Have been a renter for ten plus years and will continue my stays on Ocracoke Island by renting Hanging Loose .

Hangin Loose house was wonderful. The house was very clean, kitchen had every appliance and provisions needed. Entertainment center was amazing. The backyard was beautiful and fenced in for the pets. The ramps up to the house made moving in so easy. We had one minor repair to be made, and the realty had it taken care of immediately. Thank you Ocracoke Realty and the owners of the house.

Very comfortable homey feel and definitely a well stocked kitchen and the screen porch swing was awesome along with a lot of other seating. The couch covers were great addition as to not having to ask my dogs kindly to remove themselves when not paying attention… also a great way to relax and enjoy myself. Dog tree shaded large fenced yard was also a huge benefit and including the hammock swing to enjoy my book and relax when possible and very private which was a plus! We look forward to a return trip for sure. We have stayed in multiple homes and I thank Jessica at OIR for suggesting this one… ?
