SV38: Dunn In The Sun

My daughter, granddaughter and I stayed at Dunn in the Sun. It was small but the perfect size for us. It was clean and very comfortable. We loved the screened in porch. We loved staying there, going to local restaurants and shops. Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to inclement weather but we will definitely come back next year. Thanks so much!

Ocracoke is always wonderful, & we have enjoyed many fine stays there. This rental was perfectly located for walking around the village; Ocracoke Coffee Company was right around the corner, & the Back Porch was an easy stroll. The house is cheerfully painted & decorated, & everything was spotlessly clean on arrival. It is small, so even though it might theoretically hold four people, it would be a tight squeeze. And there’s only one bathroom. A few more hooks or holders for hanging things would be welcome, since space is limited, & one room has no closet. There’s one couch & one chair, & generally we found all furnishings comfortable. Glassware is limited (no wine glasses, & only 6 glasses total), but the cookware is good. There’s a very nice screened porch, & our favorite thing may have been the fenced back yard, which was perfect for our dogs. We are always happy to find good dog-friendly rentals. Checkin was easy, & communication from OIR was good.

Very cute place and very dog friendly. The yard is big, but it floods when raining so bring some boots if you go during a rainy season. All the TV's are connected to the internet for streaming. Kitchen is well equipped. The outdoor shower has good water temp controls.

The house was clean but did have to kill a few cockroaches. The fenced in yard was great for my dog and I loved sitting on the porch. Compared to where the rest of my family stayed, this house was over priced.

The place was small but had everything we needed. Appreciated the linens and towels that were provided. Loved the fenced in yard so I could play with my dog. The porch was nice and relaxing. Beds were comfy too! Best part is the location = right around the corner from the Ocracoke coffee shop. Just a short walk to the two best restaurants on the island, Flying Melon and Back Porch. TV was good and the internet worked great. Reasonably priced. I would stay there again.

This was our second visit to Dunn in The Sun. We loved it like our own house. The fenced in yard and porch are where we spent most of our time when we weren't out on the water. Such a convenient location and great pet friendly cottage. I hope to be back soon. OIR had it clean and ready early.

What a great cottage! The fenced-in yard was such a great amenity for the dogs and made it feel like home. We enjoyed sipping coffee/wine on the screened porch while the dogs played in the yard. While the kitchen was small, it was a full kitchen and well appointed with dishes and pots/pans and we cooked a big family meal for some local friends while we were there. It was a convenient location but also tucked back so it felt private. The furnishings and decor were comfortable and the whole house was clean. I highly recommend it and I already booked another week. The owners have done a great job with it.

Love this cute, cozy and most importantly pet friendly home. I have stayed at a lot of pet friendly places in Ocracoke and by far this has the best yard. I spent most of my time in the yard or on the screen porch. Plan to rebook for the fall. ??
