I really liked the McNeal Cottage at Ocracoke. Part of that was because its multi-level A-frame design is like my own house, but it had two dens that were perfect for game nights and giving people a choice on where to be and what to play. Kitchen was spacious and good for cooking larger meals for the whole family and being a staging area for trips to the beach. I kind of wish the carport could have fit a car, but we used it to dry our stuff and garage the rented golf cart, so it worked out fine. Mini split A/C units did a good job and we could turn them down when present and let them float up when we left the house. Overall we had a good time at the cottage and it allowed us to enjoy Ocracoke and the surroundings and recharge every night. A great place.

Overall, the house was clean. I did kill 5 cockroaches. 3 were american(water bugs) roaches and the other 2 were small roaches. That was the fist 3 days. The rest of the week I did not see anymore. The house was nice and kitchen was well stocked.

Overall we really liked the house. Was very neat and clean when we arrived. Good layout. However, the TV in the family room did not work all the time. It kept going to the prime video screen when we tried to change the channel and then seemed to freeze. We changed the batteries in the remote and unplugged the TV several times, but it still did not work. Also, the cookware pots and pans could use a refresher. The Teflon pans were all scratched up. Luckily I packed a frying pan from home.
