The futon in the living room really needs to be replaced with something more comfortable. And one of the Adirondack chairs on the porch is broken. But, the view is terrific!

Everything was great except the weather. The northeaster blew all week, but we got a lot of rest and got in a little fishing. The view was great. The house was a little small, but we knew that when we reserved it.

We enjoyed our stay very much! Two suggestions: 1. The futon in the living area is in need of replacing, or at least having the cushion replaced. 2. The driveway has bushes encroaching to the point where it is not possible to pass through without them brushing down the side of the vehicle, on both sides in some places. They need a good trim. Also, when the wind blows out of the northeast, we could hear a knocking sound from the roof. Might be something loose up there.

Love WP01! Stayed there 8 or nine years ago and nothing had changed. Sometimes change is not always for the better but sometimes necessary! The ONLY problem I had with the unit was with the OUTDATED bath tub and toilet that had to be plunged after each use regardless of the use. I’ve been coming to Ocracoke for thirty five years and will continue to do so but will rent another unit unless the antiquated bath tub is replaced and the plumbing has been upgraded. I am 81 years old and only took sponge baths because of safety factor!

I doubt the owners will want to remove the old claw foot tub, they do love it so, but I do understand how it can be difficult to get in and out of easily! The water view location was lovely! The house was remote and private. Deck and screen porch wonderful. Beds comfy. Linens very clean… beds made. Had trouble trying to work the tv. We killed seven roaches inside the home (three around the kitchen sink, two in the bathroom and two in the living room) and one on the screened in porch! I got in the outdoor shower and turned the water on and had about four roaches come out from between the cracks and run!! Homes should be sprayed for roaches! We bought COMBAT roach traps and also sprayed each day we were there. I hate it because this sadly ruined it for me in what was otherwise a great location.

Hi Joe & Diann, We're glad to hear you enjoyed the uniqueness of Windmill Point! On the other hand, we're sorry you encountered so many of our Palmetto bugs. They do love warm, humid environments and their size can be startling. The house is on a pest control program but needs extra spraying at times for those. Please let us know if you encounter the bugs on a future stay, and we'll send someone over to spray. We hope you'll be able to visit again soon!

Windmill Point cottage is still the best beach house in the world. The house was very clean when we arrived, although sometimes I miss the fiddler crabs that used to get it in the kitchen

Enjoyed being right on the water. Just sitting on the porch watching the ferries and boats go by was relaxing. Million dollar view.

Meekers cottage is the perfect location…. Everything “ worked” and we had amazing weather…. Screens do need replacing in spots…. Sad the Jolly Roger is still closed and now the corner ice cream place but loved the town garden… also wish the boardwalk extended across the soft sand some place for us older folks…

For WP1 Thanks for upgrading kitchen and bathroom sinks. Driveway in is still obstructed by bushes in some cases but primarily by embellishments to the entrance, which make it very difficult to negotiate with a full size vehicle. Many kitchen pots etc are stored about 7 feet up . Very hard to reach.

We were looking for a spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of Ocracoke. Our seaside stay fit the bill perfectly. The house is simple, with sun filled rooms, a screened in porch and large seaside deck. For us it offered the perfect retreat from our busy urban lives. It would also fit the bill for anyone who wanted to go fishing, or spend the day near or on the water. During the week we were there, we like the option of dining out or cooking our meals. This allowed us to pack lunches for a day at the beach or eat dinner on the deck while we watched the marine life. But having so many great places to eat out was a nice surprise! Our favorite spots to dine were Edwardo’s Taco Stand (amazing!), Smacnally’s Waterfront Grill (delicious!) and Stockroom for morning lattes and breakfast. Ocracoke is a special place. We look forward to visiting again!

Another great experience in Ocracoke

The only negative issue I have to say is the check-in time for the rental. I understand it has to be cleaned, and there are lots of units to clean with a small crew, but it still doesn't seem right to start the rental week on Saturday and you can't even get in the unit until the afternoon, last two years at 2:00 and previous around 4:30. Wish there was a better system. Other than that, I have enjoyed staying at Windmill Point and working with OIR.
