BJ Garrish Cottage combines the simplicity of the past with modern conveniences and a central location for a relaxing and memorable vacation experience. From the classic cedar shakes to the welcoming wrap-around porch, everything about the home's exterior embraces historic coastal design. The traditional southern charm continues inside with hardwood floors throughout and beadboard walls and ceilings. Come back from the beach and relax in the tastefully furnished living area, or get dinner started in the well-equipped kitchen. The first bedroom and bath are located downstairs on the main level, with two additional bedrooms on the top floor that share a second full bath. Outside, you can start your day with a cup of coffee in one of the Adirondack chairs on the front porch. The back half of the porch is screened in for comfortable outdoor living.

BJ Garrish Cottage is situated in Wahab Village on quiet dead-end street with minimal traffic. The neighborhood's central location on the island means you'll be just minutes from the beach, Silver Lake Harbor and everything in between. Several nearby restaurants are within walking distance, including Pony Island, Back Porch and Flying Melon.

No smoking. Parking is limited to 4 vehicles. This home does not provide linens. Short stays are available (three night minimum).

We loved the BJ Garrish house! Super clean, nice decor, very comfortable! Kitchen fully stocked with everything we needed to cook. We loved the extensive outdoor decks-especially the large screened in back porch with fans. Great location- easy biking to anywhere!

Nice home. Definitely needs more dim lighting and maybe fans in the bedrooms. To have so many very, large fluorescent lights was just not inviting and a bit overpowering, especially in the morning. We’re early risers (even on vacation), and the majority of the lighting in the home, were very large fluorescent lights.

Since there is no icemaker, the kitchen should have some plastic ice trays and a plastic ice cube bin. Also, no dish drainer. A nonstick frying pan would be nice as well. But house was otherwise clean and well appointed.

The good: Great location on a quiet street; charming and comfortable house with fantastic living room, new appliances and great porches. The less than ideal: kitchen is not equipped for six people, including no pantry, odd selection of cooking implements including pots and pans, and too few bowls. Downstairs bedroom is really small. Still a great stay!

Lovely, quaint and cozy historic home. Very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Upstairs bathroom is small but fine for folks who aren’t tall. Downstairs bathroom is great with a wonderful shower. The screened in back/side porch, which attaches to the front porch, is a plus as you can let your dog out with ample space to roam. The front porch also has a gait. Overall a great place on a very quiet street.

We loved our stay at the BJ Garrish-Historic Cottage. We felt right at ease as soon as we arrived and it was nice to bring our dog with us on vacation this year. This is truly a beautiful home and I don’t believe the photos do it justice.
We rented a golf cart from the folks on the corner and checked out all the little shops and even went by the old Irvin Garrish house on Howard St and had the opportunity to speak to the owners for a short time.
It was our dogs first trip to the beach and she absolutely loved it! She even liked riding on the cart by the last day we were there. A fun time was had by all and we absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful historic home on the beautiful island of Ocracoke. This house may be old but it has been updated nicely and the A/C works great, as well as the plumbing and electrical outlets. The screened in rear porch connects to the open air front porch and both are enjoyable when the island has a good breeze. The only annoying thing about this Airbnb is that you have to provide your own sheets and towels, which can be rented, of course, by the listing agency. The bedrooms are fairly spacious and the beds are big and comfortable. My family and I had a great time here and we would stay here again.
