IR14: Bird's Eye View

Another great stay with an Ocracoke Island Realty! This house was a lot of fun. It had a lot of interesting nooks and crannies with thoughtful touches such as a chair here or a desk there. Note - these nooks and crannies come at the cost of many steps- many in the form of several different landings, each 6 or so steps up or down from one another. The rooms are colorful and added to the beach vacation vibe. The house also has several porches. My favorite one was looking out over the marsh. But whatever you want - busier or quieter view, more sun or less - you'll be able to find it. I would recommend a few more chairs as a few of the porches lacked something to sit on. The home has everything you need - plenty of room and areas to stash your items. The kitchen was nicely supplied so you should find something to help you cook whatever you want. (Note- we did have a problem with the stovetop while there. Ocracoke Realty was very quick to get someone out to help with a temporary fix to the issue and something more permanent pending. After almost 10 rentals, we have had very few problems but if there was one, someone very kind and helpful was quick to help. That's a major reason we keep going back to this realty company. In one review for this home, the kitchen chairs were mentioned as needing some TLC. I have to agree - I had some work to do and needed to sit awhile to get the work done on my laptop and afterwards, I was pretty sore due to the weak seating material. The chairs bottoms do become uncomfortable and are in need of replacement. We found the beds to be comfy although my daughter thought her bed was a bit too soft. Each bedroom had lots of windows with great views. I will be missing the view out the master windows for quite awhile!! The location is fine. The grocery, Howards Pub and Microbrewery are minutes away - if you want to go into town, that's a quick drive. The area as a whole is quiet - the road is bumpy which stops any would-be speeders from zipping up and down the road. Our dogs loved our walks. If you watch, you may see some of the Ocracats who have made homes in the marsh nearby - they never bothered us but rather watched us from afar. I appreciated this home and as usual, am going through Ocracoke withdrawal until my next visit.

We had a great 2 weeks at Birds Eye View! This house was so unique and fun. We got our workout in with the stairs! A good thing for us and young kids, maybe a struggle if you have challenges with stairs (there are a lot). The back yard was wonderful for our dog. We could walk to Howard’s/1718 very easily. Kitchen was well stocked as well. We did not have any issues during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful two weeks with friends and family when we stay at Birds Eye View. The home is lovely, uniquely laid out, centrally located, and well appointed. The dining room chairs could use an upgrade (you sink nearly to the floor in some of them) but it's a beach house and for the week we managed just fine. We ran into some issues with the well water but we were able to communicate those with OIR in real-time (love the texting function) and they were very communicative and quick to address the issues. All in all a great trip and I would give it a 4.7/5! We're already looking forward to next year!
